Community Health Workers | American Diabetes Association

Community Health Workers

Community health workers (CHWs) are frontline public health workers and play a vital role in improving health and well-being in the communities they serve. As they have a deep understanding of the cultural, social, and economic factors that impact health outcomes and reduce health disparities, they are critical to preventing and managing diabetes, particularly in areas where access to health care may be limited.

Understanding Diabetes: Free Continuing Education

Objective: Increase understanding of diabetes and diabetes management to empower CHWs to provide guidance for those at-risk or living with diabetes to best manage their condition and ensure they have access to the services and care needed.
